“Sabrina: The Teenage Witch” Remake?

In April it was confirmed that Sony gave the green light to a super remake of “Sabrina: The Teenage Witch” and now upandcomers.net are suggesting a few actresses for the role. Here’s what they had to say about Haley:

One young actress who has been getting tons of notice lately is Haley Bennett, one time stuck in mindless bad teen movies like “The Hautning of Molly Hartley”. But when Terrence Malick cast her as one of the female leads in his follow-up to “The Tree Of Life”, she suddenly became one to watch. While she’s the oldest on our list at 24, she still looks as youthful as a teenager and is obviously not above playing younger than her age, as she fought to the very end to play teenage horror icon “Carrie” before losing out to Chloe Moretz. Sabrina is a bit of a lighter character, but Bennett has shown comedic chops in her previous work too. Who remembers slutty-spiritual pop star Cora Corman in Hugh Grant rom-com “Music & Lyrics”?

Keep in mind that this is nothing but a personal opinion by this reporter.

Haley and Drew Barrymore reunite

V-Magazine posted an interesting snippet about Haley and some picture took by none other than Drew Barrymore. In case you don’t remember, Haley’s first big screen role was as Cora in Music&Lyrics that starred Drew and Hugh Grant. Here’s the article and the picture was added to our gallery!

Music was always a major influence for the singer and actress Haley Bennett, who was born in a small Florida town before her family moved to Ohio. “From a very young age, I remember we would all bond over food, song, and sometimes dance, but I was always shy and quiet,” she remembers. “My turning point was when my grandfather was very ill and asked me to sing to him. I chose ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow.’ Afterwards he wept and told me that no matter what I did in life, I had to let my voice be heard. It was one of the last things he ever said to me.” Barrymore helped Bennett to keep her word, when she costarred with the actress and Hugh Grant in 2007’s Music and Lyrics, playing a precocious teenybopper. “In many ways I feel like she is the reason I am where I am,” Bennett says. And like her famous mentor, this vivacious blonde is going places. Next she’ll appear in Terrence Malick’s new film, Lawless, as part of a star-studded cast including Christian Bale, Natalie Portman, and Ryan Gosling.

Haley considered for the remake of “Carrie”

Chloe Moretz and Haley Bennett Are Top Contenders to Lead CARRIE Remake; Jodie Foster and Julianne Moore Eyed for Mother Role

Now that Kimberly Pierce (Boys Don’t Cry) is set in the director’s chair, producers are working to cast the lead in the MGM/Screen Gems remake of Carrie. Vulture reports that a number of actresses have been shortlisted for the part (including Dakota Fanning and Lily Collins) but Chloe Moretz and Haley Bennett (Marley and Me) are apparently the top two candidates. The remake is said to be more faithful to Stephen King’s source material than Brian De Palma’s 1976 film adaptation, and apparently The Descendants star Shailene Woodley has already passed on the lead role. Hit the jump for more on the new Carrie.

Haley Bennett Starring In ‘Deep Powder’ And ‘Ella Walks The Beach’

Up and coming actress Haley Bennett has booked the lead in Deep Powder, the Mo Ogrodnik-directed film being made by Killer Films with Pam Koffler producing. At the same time, Bennett is playing the title character in Ella Walks The Beach, a drama about a young woman who spends 24 hours traveling along an iconic California beach, testing the waters of suddenly being single. The film was written and is being directed by David Robert Mitchell, whose debut, The Myth of the American Sleepover, played at SXSW and Cannes last year. Adele Romanski is producing, with Benderspink’s Chris Bender, JC Spink and Jake Weiner exec producing. It’s the latest example of Benderspink’s push into productions, producing Jitters for Paramount, Undying Love for Warner Bros, and the Steve Carell-Jim Carrey-starrer Burt Wonderstone for New Line.
